Important Announcement
Common Core Standards are benchmarks developed by teachers, administrators and other education experts through a national consortium. These standards aim to bring more consistency and uniformity to what students learn at each grade level from one state to another so that all students in the United States are better prepared to compete and collaborate in the 21st Century global economy.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently decided to increase the grading scale for the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT). The end result is that the percentage of elementary and middle school students “meeting” or “exceeding” standards is expected to drop substantially when the scores of this year’s test are reported next fall – even though their actual scores may increase.

Community Communication From The Board of Education
April 2013:
The Association has provided the Board of Education with its first proposal. The first of the formal negotiating sessions will begin shortly. Meetings have been scheduled and it is the Board's hope to have an agreement finalized within the next few months.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In order to continue an honest and transparent dialogue with our community, the Board of Education will be providing periodic updates on the status of contract negotiations with the Flossmoor Education Association. It is our desire to make the collective bargaining process non-contentious, while continuing to provide a high quality, uninterrupted education for our students. As a group, the Board of Education and Administration agree that an early start to the negotiation process with the Association will benefit everyone involved by providing enough time to discuss important issues. Although the current contract does not expire until August, we are ready to begin and have asked the Association team to let us know when they are ready.
