New website and mobile app launched to expand district-wide communication and transparency:

Capitalizing on its theme of 21st-Century Learning, Flossmoor School District 161 is introducing a 21st-century method of communication with its brand new mobile app and website.

Available in the App Store and Google Play, the Flossmoor School District 161 mobile app is made to be customizable so that families receive information directly based on their preferences. Users are encouraged to select a desired school or schools and sign up for alerts and push notifications to easily connect with teachers and administrators through email or phone.

“Parents and family members can quickly find program information, lunch menus, contact information, calendar events, and more in one central, easy to access place with the Flossmoor School District 161 mobile app,” said Dr. Dana Smith, Superintendent.

Not only does the new Flossmoor School District 161 mobile app and website create ease of use for parents, guardians and families, but it also allows for District staff and faculty to share stories of student success in one single communication stream. With a single step through the website’s platform Thrillshare, one photo or informational post can be shared by staff across the District website, mobile app and social media.

As community surveys have shown, parents and families are looking for higher engagement with their students’ day-to-day activities, and with the launch of the mobile app, Dr. Smith said the District is able to accomplish that now more than ever.

“These are the stories that matter most to our families and now they can find them right in their pockets,” said Smith. “We are thrilled to be launching this new era of school communication and we hope that everyone joins us on our journey.”
