Western Avenue is giving back on MLK day of service with the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Program.  Grown out of your old sneakers or are they worn beyond use? Bring them to Western Avenue Elementary school to be donated to the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program. Sneakers can be transformed into sports surfaces like running tracks, baseball fields, and basketball courts. Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe program has ground down more than 28 million pairs of shoes turning them into more than 450,000 sports surfaces around the world. Collected sneakers will be donated to a local Nike Store. Nike accepts any brand of athletic sneakers, but are unable to recycle sandals, dress shoes, boots, or shoes with metal (like cleats or spikes).

Western Avenue will be open from 9:30am - 12:00pm for shoe donations and fun measurement activities.  Also, take the challenge to walk 10,000 steps that day around our community.

The library will also be open for students to play with their old legos before donating them to Dunning's Market to support their MLK service project.
