Exciting news from the State National History Day Competition!
The 8th-grade performance team, comprised of Ezra Raftery, Zephyr Peters, Isaac Hernandez, Isabella Davies, and Ella Linde, (pictured above) secured 1st Place in State, earning them a spot in the National competition to be held this summer.
The 8th-grade exhibit board team, consisting of Julia Jenkins, Kayla Jones, Khristiana Faith Brown, Alle Orr, and Katelynn Woods, emerged as finalists.
Similarly, the 7th-grade exhibit board team, made up of Anna Sikkema, Sadie O'Keefe, Charlotte Aceves, Mikiya Rufus, and Addison Graham, also reached the finals. Congratulations to all of our competitors. You make us FALCON proud!


On Saturday, April 27, 2024, weather permitting, Flossmoor School District 161 will be applying an herbicide and a fertilizer to the district’s fields/grass areas. The products that will be used are The Andersons Turf Products Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide and Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide. These products comprise a selective broadleaf herbicide and a lawn fertilizer that will be used to control weeds/dandelions in these areas and fertilize all district lawns.

Today members of the National History Day State qualifying team and participants of the Scholastic Bowl were treated to a pep rally through the hallways of PJH. Great job to everyone who joined in the fun.

Good News Friday!
Parker Junior High Humanities students showcased their talents at the National History Day competition, recently competing at the Chicago Regionals on March 9th. Ms. ODwyer held a virtual watch party on March 20th to celebrate their achievements, filled with proud moments and peer reviews of their outstanding projects. This year marks the 50th anniversary of NHD, themed "Turning Points in History."
There is a cherry on top to this story! FIVE of our teams advanced to the State competition in Springfield on April 24th! This breaks a school record for having the most teams advance to the State level in PJH history. Stay tuned for more information and more photos as the students prepare for the State competition. Exciting News Alert! Three talented Parker Junior High students - Simon, Braylen, and Tyler are heading to New York City. Their skit on the Boston Tea Party won them a trip to see "Hamilton" on Broadway, thanks to the Hamilton production and Gilder Lehrman Institute. Kudos to their teachers, Linda O’Dwyer, Emily Nicotra, and Huda Hussein, for integrating Hamilton Education Program materials into the curriculum.
