The Flossmoor Hills staff was honored to host a team of teachers from Portage Park Elementary School in Chicago to observe standards based learning in action. The team conducted classroom observations to learn about student engagement, the implementation of learning goals, proficiency scales and student data reflection forms. The team then participated in a standards based learning roundtable to discourse around questions related to learning and grading practices. I am incredibly proud of the Flossmoor Hills team for engaging at a high level and providing critical feedback to our educational partners to begin this important work! Thank you to Dr. Smith and Ms. Crawford for supporting our team as we build bridges in the larger educational community and showcase the amazing work taking place in Flossmoor School District.

Thank you to the Flossmoor Hills dad's group, Dad Force One for motivating our students to do their best during NWEA testing. Dads visited each classroom to encourage students for testing and provided them with motivational bracelets. They also hosted open gym to teach students strategies to use on the court and in the classroom. We appreciate our dad's for supporting our students!

Thank you to Mr. Burke and our primary and choir students for filling us with holiday cheer at the winter concert! It was a beautiful night of singing with solos and harmony, instrument demonstrations and a winter skit.

Join us in our winter spirit days at Flossmoor Hills!

Flossmoor Hills is having a winter gear drive. Do you have new or gently used winter accessories that you are looking to donate? Please see the flier for more information.

The Flossmoor Hills Spelling Bee went 29 rounds! It was an exhilarating competition and we are extremely proud of all the students that participated for their perseverance and courage to showcase their talents. Congratulations to our top two winners 4th grader, Chimerenma and 5th grader, Enoch. They will compete in the district spelling bee. A huge round of applause for your outstanding achievement! Thank you Mrs. Thompson for your dedication and diligence to prepare our students annually for this event.

The Flossmoor Hills Dad's auxiliary has arrived! Thank you to Dad Force One for helping our students over hump day by welcoming them to school. We are excited about the positive impact that our male role models will have on our students!

Parent Academy Night was a success! Thank you to our families for coming to learn about the ways Flossmoor Hills is implementing standards based grading. We discussed learning targets, proficiency scales, data talk forms and grades. Thank you to our curriculum coordinator, Christina Bollenbacher for presenting to our families!
