Julie Lythcott-Haims is the New York Times bestselling author of How to Raise an Adult and Real American. Enjoy Flossmoor's newest tradition, the Holiday Lights Parade! Starting at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, December 15, the Flossmoor Public Works, Police and Fire Departments will travel through the neighborhoods of Flossmoor with their vehicles adorned with holiday light displays. New this year, Downtown Flossmoor, starting just north of Flossmoor Public Library and through the Flossmoor Road viaduct, will be a dedicated quiet zone designed for attendees with sound sensitivities. There will also be two viewing stations, one at Flossmoor Park and the other at Heather Hill School for those who are not on the parade route or for groups looking to gather for a fun evening!

​​All Flossmoor District 161 buildings will be closed on Thursday, February 17, 2022, due to inclement weather and bus transportation issues. Students will participate in their learning activities from home. The school day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:30 p.m. Teachers will share coursework and meeting links through Canvas. Students in early childhood and kindergarten previously brought home packets and materials to complete. If you have any questions regarding the schedule for the day, please contact your child’s teacher or building principal. There is no school on Friday, February 18, because of a pre-scheduled Institute Day.

Winter weather alert
Flossmoor School District 161 is hosting a COVID vaccination clinic from 3 to 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, February 15, at Normandy Villa, 41 E. Elmwood, Dr. in Chicago Heights. The clinic is open to all District 161 and District 153 families and staff, and the first 30 people to arrive will get a $100 gift card! Vaccines are safe, effective and free for all regardless of insurance and immigration status. First, second, boosters and pediatric doses are available. No appointment necessary.
