It was an amazing PBIS inflatable day planned by our PBIS committee led by Coach Bollenbacher. Our Leaders of the Pack enjoyed their fast passes. Thank you to our parent volunteers too.

The March to May Million Pages Challenge is winding down and we are so close to making our goal of reading one million pages! As of May 21, District 161 students, family members, and community members have logged a total of 935,080 pages.

Our guest principal, Miss Charleigh Smith, had a great day working along side me today. She visited classrooms, hosted a PTO meeting, sent out email, made important phone calls, supervised lunch and helped some friends solve a couple problems.






Flossmoor School District 161's annual Visual Arts Expo will be open for viewing on Thursday, May 11, and Friday May 12. Stop by the District Office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to see the amazing art created by District 161 students.





We were very greatful to be able to honor and celebrate our volunteers this year with a light breakfast, thank yous, and songs from our choir.





Congratulations to Alani and Ruby for being honored at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Breakfast. The 5th-grade team nominated Alani and Ruby for their outstanding character and academic work this school year.

Thank you Girl Scouts for the wonderful book donations to our library. In honor of Women’s History Month Girl Scout Troop 65547 donated “Girl Scouts Here We Come!” and “No Boundaries: 25 Women Explorers and Scientists”.

Multicultural Rock Out!
4th & 5th-grade Gifted Art Club has been working on decorative stones to adorn WA's green space. Each grade has a stone with a multicultural theme. Their work is now on display by door G.

Join Flossmoor School District 161 and UChicago Medicine Pediatric Services for a virtual parent university. This parent university will focus on identifying ADHD in children including initial diagnosis, support, and treatment options. D161 students headed to the ILMEA District Elementary Musical Festival this past Saturday with 22 Chicago area schools. They had fun learning new musical techniques and instruments with guest clinicians.





Western Avenue's production of Aladdin was AMAZING! Congratulations to the cast and crew for two stellar performances this week. A special thank you to Mrs. Pasqua, Ms. Watson, and Ms. Hanzelin for helping our students showcase their talents. Thank you, parents and families for your support.
