We love to see our #Falcons learning new skills and engaging in the community. During winter break these two superstars took the time to become CPR certified babysitters. Did you know Mr. Wright, our 6th-grade Math teacher and boys' Basketball Coach, was recently honored with the School District 161 Those Who Excel Award? He earned this recognition for his positive outlook on education and solution-oriented mentality. At the boys' basketball game last night, we also celebrated the outstanding efforts of the 8th graders on the court throughout the season.

All Flossmoor District 161 buildings will be closed on Tuesday, January 16th, due to the extremely cold temperatures. Students will participate in their learning activities from home. The school day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:30 p.m. Teachers will share coursework and Zoom meeting links through the Canvas Learning Management System. Students in early childhood and kindergarten previously brought home packets and materials to complete. If you have any questions regarding the schedule for the day, please contact your child’s teacher or building principal. We anticipate returning to in-person learning on Wednesday, January 17.

District 161 is hosting several Parent University Sessions over the next few weeks. Paula Davis, founder of the Stress and Resilience Institute, will present information for parents/guardians on topics such as building stress awareness and understanding burnout, maintaining strong connections, leveraging mental strength in parenting, and building parental efficacy and hope. Thank you to Flossmoor Community Church for sharing your space so our choirs could perform for the students and teachers of FCC Weekday Preschool. The preschool students were the PERFECT audience and we loved to see their little toes tapping and hands clapping to the music.

The music continued last night at Parker Junior High during the orchestra concert. Thank you to Mr. Diller and his students for the spectacular and goosebump inducing performance!

Is your student interested in becoming a babysitter? The Village of Flossmoor Fire Department offers a winter break babysitter safety training class led by Firefighter Kelly.
