At last night’s Flossmoor School District 161 Board Meeting, 7th-grade student Wakana Hill was recognized for her outstanding achievements during Parker Junior High’s inaugural golf season. Wakana made it to the state competition, proudly representing her school and the district. Well done, Wakana!

Big thanks to the Village of Flossmoor and Chicago Heights Fire Departments for visiting our schools during Fire Prevention Week.
Our students learned valuable safety tips and had a blast exploring the fire truck. The kids also loved meeting Marshall and some wished they could take him home!
Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe!
Reminder to D161 families: There will be no school on October 11 in observance of Yom Kippur and no school on October 14. We will see you in class on Tuesday, October 15.

October is Fire Prevention Month and we are grateful to the Village of Flossmoor and Chicago Heights Fire Departments for visiting our schools and making our students aware of how they can help their families practice fire prevention. October is a great time to make sure you have working smoke alarms in your home. Visit www.nfpa.org for more fire prevention tips.
We caught up with PJH teacher, Mr. Wright and his wife at the Village of Flossmoor's OAKtoberfest held last weekend.
Mr. Wright also helps coach the boys baseball team alongside Mr. Shereyk.
We wish the baseball team good luck as they face Chicago Heights today in the regional Championship.
We hope you’ve had a blast during #RockYourSchools week—a fun, outside-the-box initiative designed to bring learning to life! It has been amazing to see all the creative ways you rocked different decades, concerts, and artists. Huge thanks to the incredible instructional coaches from each building who made this week a hit!
We had the pleasure of catching up with some of our District 161 families last week in Leavitt Park in Flossmoor. These families are part of the Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Monarch Cities Chapter and together they planted a pollinator garden and painted kindness rocks in the park.
Great job to everyone who participated!

Pssst! The kids are absolutely crushing it this week. We love to see everyone making an effort to arrive to school on time and ready for the day. Here are 3️⃣ tips to make your morning run smoothly.
1. Prep the night before by laying out clothes and packing backpacks. 🎒
2. Create a morning routine by establishing time for waking up, getting dressed, and getting out the door. ⏰
3. Create a launch pad near the door and keep backpacks, jackets, and sneakers ready to go. 🚀

We had a wonderful time kicking off the beginning of the school year with staff, students, and their families at the Back to School Bash last Friday.
